In the world of ‘infertility’ and related treatments the TWW (two week wait after insemination, IVF, etc.) is a commonly used term. I hadn’t heard of it, probably until after our insemination and while talking with some wonderful ladies currently going through the same procedures as we are, on a discussion board, I heard about this dreaded TWW………
I can say, with complete certainty, the TWW is the LONGEST two weeks you’ll ever endure………how could it not be, I mean you are waiting (and waiting) to find out if you were successful in your attempt to create life!!
Another term that is often referred to is 8 (or any number) DPIUI, meaning 8 days past insemination. While the ‘norm’ is to take a HPT (home pregnancy test) around 14 DPIUI, we all know my patience did not allow for the full 2 week wait. We tested at 7PDIUI, 8DPIUI, 9DPIUI and 10DPIUI. We had BFN (big fat negatives) on day 7, 8 and 9. BUT on day 10 we were BLESSED to see TWO magnificent lines on that HPT. Just take a look, at the bottom one 🙂
Now I wasn’t demoralized or anything like that with getting the BFN’s because I knew we were testing WAY early, and the way my ovulation had worked I knew that we’d have an answer before 14 days because my ‘visitor’ was due exactly on 14 days past IUI, so we were blessed to get a BFP on 10DPIUI.
On 11DPIUI I peed on some more sticks, at this point it felt like it had become habit, haha. Then we went to the store and bought the digital tests that say PREGNANT or NOT PREGNANT, with the warning that these tests require the pregnancy hormone to be higher than the other tests in order to state pregnant, so there was still a chance it would say NOT pregnant. Well we got home and I peed on yet another stick and the instructions said it’d take 3 minutes to tell you the result, well within less than 1.5 minutes it said PREGNANT – LOOK IT 🙂
And ladies and gents as the saying goes – the fat lady had SUNG 🙂 (well I will be getting fat, and I do like to sing!)
